BSP-NPA COLLABORATION RECOGNISED BY ‘TRIPLE CROWN’ OF AWARDS

The effectiveness of NPA and BSP's strategic collaboration has been proven first and foremost through the interaction between our two organisations and the mutual benefits it has delivered to both State Printworks. And while awards will never be the objective of our work, they do serve to provide a benchmark as to how this program of work compares to its peers.

To that end, NPA and BSP has collectively won the Triple Crown of Global Banknote Awards in 2023, that being: International Bank Note Society (IBNS), International Association of Currency Affairs (IACA), and Central Banking Journal.

The IBNS awarded BSP's new polymer 1000-Piso Banknote of the Year, an accolade that is considered the purist's award as no applications or submissions are involved in the judging. IBNS members are asked to nominate and vote on the banknote that most appeals to them during the issuing period.

"IBNS is comprised of a highly knowledgeable and passionate membership, many of whom have had decades of experience in banknote design, production, issuance, and/or collection.  For BSP to be awarded Banknote of the Year is the ultimate compliment, "says Steve Casey, NPA's Head of Marketing and Communications.

IACA's membership includes the global currency industry including central banks that promotes and encourages excellence in currency. BSP was one of four award winners announced at the 2023 Currency Conference, taking out the Best Public Engagement Program for its outstanding communications work in issuing the new 1000-Piso polymer banknote.

Finally, under the category of Currency Services Provider of the Year, the NPA-BSP collaboration was recognised as the best program of its kind, based on the maturity and integrity of the strategic relationship that has been developed between Note Printing Australia and BSP.

"What started as a principled decision about how BSP could best mitigate the risk in making its transition to polymer banknotes, has developed into an integrated and highly cooperative program of work.  We're extremely pleased that NPA can contribute to delivering that strategy, and on that basis a wide range of touchpoints and knowledge sharing for the benefit of both organisations has occurred in the last 12 months," says NPA, CEO Malcolm McDowell.

Benchmark Performance: NPA and BSP's work together is garnering recognition and respect globally, which includes last week's IACA Excellence in Currency Awards in Mexico City, which was accepted by BSP's Rosabel Guerrero and Rodolfo 'RD' Ronquillo.
