March 2025 has brought some hard-earned but very welcome news: NPA’s Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate – one of the main safety indicators used by the business – has returned to zero.
This is significant as this rate has not been at zero since June 2023. An LTI of zero for NPA means it has been at least one year since an injury occurred which resulted in an employee requiring time off work because of that injury. An example of such an injury could be a worker pulling a muscle in their back after attempting to lift an object that was too heavy or using incorrect technique while lifting the object.
“NPA has had a strong focus on improving this safety measure in the last 12 months by focusing on how we work, each of us looking out for our colleagues, implementing ongoing improvements to our workplace, encouraging each of our workers to speak up if they see any unsafe practices or improved ways to do things, and generally continuing to build our safety culture across the board,” says Chris Lait, our HSE Manager.
With Safety now directly identified as one of NPA’s values, staff are keeping the momentum building by continuing to support each other, looking out for each other’s safety, both physical and mental, and continuing to identify and implement practices that create safer ways of working.
