NPA CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY IN SUPPORT OF GENDER EQUALITY

International Women's Day (IWD) was on Saturday 8 March, and in the lead up NPA celebrated and supported the women in our workplace.  International Women's Day first started in 1911 (one year before NPA was founded) and is now a global movement that welcomes any and all contributions to the advancement of gender equality.

"It’s a global day to celebrate the progress women have made in business, in professional life and in the community," says Jodie Hill, NPA’s Chief HR Officer. “The importance for NPA is that we’ve continued to try and create an environment that’s safe, where people feel respected and valued regardless of gender.”

NPA’s own Women in Leadership (WIL) team have organised some events to mark the occasion.

Starting on Monday 3 March, Green Street Café (the staff cafeteria) had a week-long IWD theme, decorating the canteen in purple and selling IWD ribbons, where $127 from the ribbon sales went to the charity Safe Steps.

On Wednesday 5 March, NPA released an Inspiring Women video in which staff members from across our business reflected on an inspiring woman in their lives and why that person has been so influential to them.

Safe Steps provides immediate and life-saving support to individuals experiencing family and domestic violence. This includes 24/7 assistance to all Victorians in high risk, crisis situations.

“I want to support NPA to be a company that provides women and all staff an equal opportunity to move forward, to feel part of a team, and that we’ve got opportunities to achieve what we’re aiming for personally and professionally and importantly enabling us to be our full selves when we come to work,” says Jodie.
